PBMA Certified Shop

To be listed and display the certified shop logo a bicycle shop, mobile provider or service only shop must meet the following minimum standards:
- The shop must be a PBMA Member Shop
- 50% or more of shop personnel must be PBMA Members and Certified at level I or above.
- Provide your technical staff a living wage inline with your local demographic.
- Mechanical and Technical staff should be entitled to some type of bonus system if such a system is in place for other staff under your employ. The PBMA does not need details on the specifics but does want to know that there is some type of incentive system in place. If you are in need of assistance in structuring a profitable benefit plan the PBMA can help and provide assistance to your business.
- Maintain a minimum of 4 stars in the Shop and Mechanic Locator. This isn't monitored daily but generalized over a 90 day period. The ratings and review system allows you to respond to any review and we encourage positive open dialogue with your consumers.
- Provide your service staff a health benefit, presently the government can provide this if you do not.
- The following are recommended:
- Anti-Fatigue flooring
- Adequate lighting to perform job functions
- Climate Controlled
- Service area computer
- Employee break area
- Chemical storage
- Noise consideration (compressor, grinding, cutting)
- Safety equipment & First Aid (eye protection, gloves, fire extinguisher, stocked first aid kit)
- Workspace ergonomics (such as adjustable height work stands)
- Time and or assistance for your technical staff to educate themselves. This can be any combination of online training time on-the-clock or financial assistance to attend training.
